The distinction that costs the most

Preparation is not planning

Most practice owners have only ever paid for the first one. Preparation is a historical exercise: it records what already happened and calculates what you owe. By the time it starts, every decision that mattered has already been made.

41

Legitimate deductions available to a dental practice

8 to 20

$4K–$15K

Common annual value of that gap, before any structural planning

The bigger money is not on a checklist. It is structural.

How your entity is organized. What you pay yourself and how. Whether your building is held correctly. What kind of retirement plan you run and when you funded it. Those decisions move the number by tens of thousands rather than hundreds, and they have to be made before December 31 to count.

Built for your industry

We only work with practices like yours

Most accountants treat your practice like every other small business. We do not. KLAS works exclusively with dental and healthcare providers, so we already understand your margins, your payroll structure, your equipment costs, and the tax strategies that actually move the needle for owner-operators.

From day-one startups to multi-location groups planning an exit, we meet you where you are and build the financial roadmap to where you want to go. Because KLAS runs four other divisions around the same client, the person handling your taxes already knows what your practice is worth, what your overhead should be, and what your exit looks like.

Your numbers, all in one place

One dashboard. Your entire practice at a glance.

Stop waiting until tax season to find out how you did. Our software brings your business, practice, and marketing numbers together into one clean, always-on dashboard, so you can see exactly how the practice is performing the moment you log in.

Track production, collections, overhead, profitability, and marketing return side by side, benchmarked against where a healthy practice should be. No spreadsheets. No guessing.

Checking the bank balance is the most common financial habit in dentistry, and it tells you almost nothing. A healthy balance can just as easily mean you collected on last quarter's production, delayed a lab payment, and have a tax bill nobody set money aside for.

Nobody checks the tax return

Second opinions are routine in medicine. In tax they are almost unheard of, and that is exactly why so much money goes unnoticed. The largest check you write every year gets reviewed by one person: the person who prepared it.

What you get back

  • A written findings memo. Not a sales call. A document you keep, listing what we found and what it is worth.
  • An estimated dollar range. A realistic figure on what a different approach could have produced.
  • What looks correct. We tell you what your current CPA got right. Anyone who only finds problems is selling, not reviewing.
  • A short call, if you want one. Twenty minutes to walk the memo. Optional. The findings are yours either way.

What practice owners say

Real support. Real savings.

KLAS Solutions has been a game-changer for our practice. Their expertise in the healthcare industry and cutting-edge tools have saved us thousands of dollars while helping us plan confidently for the future. We can't recommend them enough.

— Dr. Emily T., dental practice owner

KLAS Solutions accounting has been refreshing. It's been nice to not only have the advice of their CPA Ashley, but the support of their whole team. The weekly calls to check in are a big bonus.

— Dr. Sam, practice owner

Common questions

What practice owners ask us first

What makes a dental and healthcare accountant different from a general CPA?

A general CPA treats your practice like any other small business. A specialty accountant already knows what your overhead should be by category, how owner compensation interacts with an S Corporation election, how equipment timing affects a high-income year, and what a practice sale does to your tax position. That context is the difference between a return that is filed correctly and a year that was planned well.

Is my current accountant doing something wrong?

Usually not. Most preparers are competent and honest, and they are doing exactly what they were hired to do, which is prepare a return. Preparation and planning are different jobs. A firm built to process returns in volume between January and April is not built to spend October restructuring your compensation. The question is whether anyone was ever hired to do the second job.

How much does it cost to work with KLAS?

Our programs run $1,300, $1,500, or $1,800 per month depending on how often we meet. Every program includes bookkeeping, bi-weekly payroll, Form 1099 filing, owner payroll allocation, entity review, and both your corporate and individual returns. Final scope is confirmed on a discovery call, and we will tell you if a lighter program fits you better.

What is the free tax return review?

Send us your last two filed returns and we run them through nine review points, then send you a written findings memo in about five business days. It lists what we would have done differently, what your current CPA got right, and an estimated dollar range on the difference. There is no cost and no obligation, and you keep the findings whether or not you ever work with us.

Do you work with practices outside your state?

Yes. We work with dental and healthcare practice owners across the United States. Everything from bookkeeping to quarterly reviews runs remotely, and multi-state payroll and filing requirements are part of normal scope for us.

When is the right time to switch accountants?

The cleanest break is right after a return is filed, because the prior year is closed and the new advisor has a full picture to plan from. The more useful question is timing against the calendar. Planning moves have deadlines, and most of the ones with real leverage expire on December 31. Switching in the fall means the first year actually gets planned rather than just recorded.

Let's find the money hiding in your practice

Send us your last two returns, or just book a call. We will review where you stand, show you what is possible, and recommend the right program, or tell you honestly if we are not the fit.
